About Us

We used to have a few dozen olive trees on our land and we’ve produced just enough oil for domestic use. At the end of the nineties, our family decided to plant olive trees in the area of Grintovec village, so we organized two vast areas of olive plantations, comprising 750 olive trees. We planted also seedlings, grown in tree nurseries (leccino, maurino and some other types).

The oil bears the mark of Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) and of organic production, which means that it is produced in specified conditions, both in terms of work on the olive plantation and the processing into oil, which is controlled by relevant authorities. Our standards are even higher because organic production is committed to the external control, which issues a relevant certificate to the farmer.

Main conditions for obtaining the certificate PDO are:

• Area of production must be in Slovenian Istra
• At least 30% must be of the sort Istrska belica
• The storage of the fruits must not be more than 48 hours
• The olive plantations must be a part of a joint production or organic production
• During the extraction of the oil by means of pressure the temperature must not be higher than C 27°
• Hi-technological production – only at oil mills with the right certificate
• Parameters of quality that are known as highly esteemed olive oils

Main conditions for organic certificate are:

• The oil is produced without using the GSO
• Was not a subject to ionizing radiation
• Contains at least 95% components of organic origin
• The production is supervised
• Possesses the documents according to the regulations
